What is an Irish House passport?

At each event during Irish Week, earn a stamp when you purchase a drink.

At the end of Irish Week, we will have a drawing from the passports with the most stamps.  The winner will be crowned "Mayor of The Irish House," awarded a special prize and outfitted with a crown suitable for St. Patrick's Day royalty.  Best of all, the Mayor's photo will hang on the wall in the pub!

Irish Movies  9am

All morning until 4pm we will show family movies, serve popcorn and have a children’s craft corner; later in the day, enjoy movies of music, laughs, history and action.  This free event is open to everyone!

6 Nations Rugby 10am

Watch England and Italy battle it out live from Twickenham in one of the final matches of the 6 Nations Rugby Tournament.

Irish Street Bowling 2pm

In Irish Street Bowling, participants throw a ball or "bullet" along a country road course and the one with fewest throws to traverse the distance wins the contest.  Walk the 1 mile course on the St. Charles neutral ground from Washington Ave. to the pub and watch what Irish street bowling is all about.  The event starts at 2pm on St. Charles Avenue at Washington Avenue.  Sign up at the pub to participate; limit of 6 teams of 2 people.  All are welcome for this event.

Monday, March 11 
 Jameson Irish Whiskey Tasting 6pm
 Jameson Whiskey Ambassador Eoin Derham will join us from Ireland and guide us through a whiskey discussion and tasting of Jameson, Jameson 12, Powers, Paddy and Redbreast.  The cost is $25 per person and reservations are recommended.


Traditional Irish Music Session 7pm

Grab a pint while you gather around the fireplace to listen to, and participate in, traditional Irish music.  Novice singers and musicians are encouraged to join in!  This weekly session is expanded to included visiting musicians in town for St. Patrick's Day.  All are welcome from 7:00pm until the last song is sung! 

Tuesday, March 12 

Cocktails & Theatre 6:30pm
As a predecessor to the whiskey dinner, Inner Compass Theatre presents a 15 minute scene from their upcoming production of "Moon for the Misbegotten" by Irish playwright, Eugene O'Neill.  In the play,
a drunken, ne'er-do-well Broadway actor and an Irish, pig farmer's daughter face hard truths about themselves and find release from past and present hurts in each other's arms by the light of the moon.
Jameson Whiskey Dinner  7pm
Enjoy a four course dinner with Chef Matt and Eoin Derham from Jameson Whiskey as they guide us through a culinary delight and whiskey lovers' dream!

with whole grain mustard, diced tomatoes, mixed herbs,
caramelized onions, saffron potatoes and grilled soda bread

Wednesday, March 13 

"Beer and Ballistic Bingo" 7pm
This isn't your grandma's bingo!  The Ballistic Bingo concept is mixed with a team style format and contests thrown in to get people out of their seats and having fun.  Players will have chances to win prizes for themselves, as well as participate in games to earn extra cards and other prizes for their team.
Not only is this a free event with prizes to be won, but there will be plenty of beer specials to make everyone happy!

Thursday, March 14 

"Irish in New Orleans" 3pm
Through happy hour, we will present the video "Irish in New Orleans" which explores and chronicles the history of the Irish in New Orleans from the late 1700s to the present. The video features the reminiscence of locals about growing up Irish in the city, visits to several local Catholic churches and examinations of some of the active local groups which continue to celebrate Irish culture in the Crescent City.  
Music with Grant Saucier & Iain Weigert 6pm
This will be a great jam session with two talented musicians.  Both have strong blues and Celtic roots.  Foot stomping and toe tapping are guaranteed!

Friday, March 15 
"Kilts and Cocktails" 6pm-9pm
Wear your kilt into the pub and get a free "Tilt Your Kilt" cocktail!
Additional drink specials will include the Flying Scotsman, Scotch on a Ladder and the Misty Glen.
Music with Kendall Rogers & Pete Dawson 7:30pm
Kendall plays piano accordian, the bodhran and guitar while Pete is a whiz with Irish pipes.  Both play regularly at folk dances, Celtic music festivals, pubs and Irish sessions.  We guarantee that you'll enjoy this rollicking duo!

7:00pm Music with The Rowdy Maggie Band Multi-instrumentalist Jacqui Sandor exhibits a soulful voice quality that blends well with whatever instrument or other voices that she sings with.  Her soulful timbre and vibrato, distantly reminiscent of her New Orleans, fit straight in with her material whether it be a fine ol' folk song or seamlessly harmonizing with her Irish Celtic bandmates.

7:00pm Céilí Traditionally, a céilí is a social gathering featuring Irish music and dance.  Dancing may be performed with as few as two people, as many as sixteen and may also be danced with an unlimited number of couples in a long line or around in a circle.  Céilís at The Irish House is a big, fun party with music, dancing and drinking!  Families, experts and novices are all encouraged to join in.

10:00am Performance by Muggivan Irish Dancers A return performance of the popular Muggivan School of Irish Dance.

11:00am Music with Hannah KB One of our regular musicians at The Irish House, Hannah take inspiration from genres ranging from Irish traditional to jazz to create her own sound.  She plays a mix of traditional, originals, and re-imagined covers.

12:00pm Traditional Irish Music Session All are invited to join in.

2:00pm Music with Patrick Cooper Patrick joins us for another musical performance.

2:00pm Performance by McTeggart Irish Dancers A presentation of gentle soft shoe and thunderous hard shoe.

7:00pm Music with Crescent City Celtic Band With their hearts in the glen and their feet in the bayou, this band sprang from a fun-loving group of musician friends.  They take a diverse view of Irish music and play everything from traditional pub tunes and ballads, to modern Irish rock and pop, to American country, bluegrass and Cajun tunes with Irish ancestry. 

9:00pm Award Presentation of "The Mayor of The Irish House" A name will be chosen from The Irish House passports that have been stamped through the week and The Mayor of The Irish House will be awarded with an outfit and crown fit for St. Patrick's Day royalty!
